The cut - slice of cake

The cut series
I made some of these sketches while visiting Heidelberg Castle. The traces of wear and tear are, for me, testaments to change and existence over the years.
I'm particularly fascinated by cuts and incisions—like a tree trunk split by time, or a piece of castle architecture breaking off and collapsing like a slice of cake. They are evidence of a specific event, a single moment.
